Index refreshed about monthly
Backlinks health check that pages you like an outage
Treat referring domains as a service metric: snapshot them on a schedule, compare against a baseline, and alert on drops. Our own index covers 181 million domains, and every call is JSON.
- Free: domain, overview, stats, suggest
- From $0.10 per 1,000 calls
- Snapshot, diff, alert from cron

Who it is for
Run a backlinks health check the way you run a service check
Links fail quietly. Nobody gets paged when a referring domain disappears, and by the time a traffic chart bends, the cause is three weeks old. SRE teams solved this for servers years ago, so we borrow the method: define a signal, record it on a schedule, and write down what counts as an incident.
Meet the tool. SEO Uptr is a REST API over our own link index, built to feed exactly that loop. Pull referring domains for your site, store the response, diff it against last week, and fire a webhook when the gap crosses a line. The severity table gives example lines, and the lost-link recipe shows the cron job end to end.
Checklist
Five checks before you call a domain healthy
- Referring domain count is within 5% of last week's snapshot, and the snapshot is dated.
- No single anchor text exceeds the share you agreed as a ceiling for your brand.
- Your top pages by links still return 200, not a redirect chain or a 404.
- The newest spike of referring domains has a cause you can name: a launch, a press hit, a vendor.
- Competitors in your watch list moved by less than you did, or you know why they did not.
- domains in our own link index
- 181,132,097
- domain-to-domain links
- 2,774,625,913
- backlinks indexed, refreshed about monthly
- 798.5 billion
- domains scored per bulk_dr call
- 2,000
- per 1,000 one-credit calls
- $0.10
- free credit on sign-up, no card
- $100
Compare
Link health levels, with example thresholds
| Level | Signal | Example threshold | What the on-call does |
|---|---|---|---|
| SEV1 | Referring domains fall sharply week over week | Down 20% or more | Open an incident, check the domain and redirects first |
| SEV2 | Slow bleed across a month | Down 8% to 19% | Pull the lost list, rank by page value |
| SEV3 | Anchor mix drifts toward exact match | One phrase above 15% of anchors | Review who is adding it, ticket the owner |
| SEV4 | Competitor gains faster than you | They add 3x your weekly new domains | Note it in the weekly review, no page |
Where it fits
Good for link signals, not a whole SEO stack
SEO Uptr measures link data and nothing else. It does not track keyword positions or crawl your site daily, and our index refreshes roughly once a month, so a link from last week may not show yet. For keywords and rank tracking, Ahrefs or Semrush are the fuller products.
- Use it for scheduled link snapshots, bulk scoring and competitor diffs.
- Pair it with Search Console for impressions and indexing.
- Do not poll hourly: the data moves about monthly.
One snapshot, one diff
Save a dated response, then compare it to the previous one. The refdomains action costs 2 credits.

Questions teams ask before wiring this in
- What is a backlinks health check and how often should I run one?
- It is a scheduled comparison of your link profile against a dated baseline. Run it weekly. Because our index refreshes about monthly, polling more often mostly returns the same data, and the interesting change shows up in steps, not in a smooth line.
- Can I get an alert when a backlink is lost?
- Not as a push event, because this is a pull API. You store a snapshot of referring domains each week, diff it against the last one in cron, and send your own Slack or email alert when domains disappear. The recipe page has the commands.
- How do I check competitors' backlinks without an Ahrefs seat?
- Call
refdomains, compareorintersecton their domains; each is a single billed call at 1 to 2 credits whatever the row count. The full Ahrefs suite is fuller for keywords, but for link data this costs a fraction of a cent per run. - Is the DR number the same as Ahrefs DR or Moz DA?
- No. It is our own metric: round(100 · log(ref_domains+1) / log(2·10^7)), a log scale on referring domains. It is comparable in spirit to Ahrefs DR or Moz DA, so use it for trends and rankings within one tool, not for cross-tool comparison.
- What does it cost to monitor 50 sites?
- A weekly
bulk_drcall scores up to 2,000 domains for one credit, which is $0.0001. Addingrefdomainsper site at 2 credits makes about 100 credits a week for 50 sites, roughly $0.04 a month. Treat it as an example, not a quote. - What happens when my balance runs out?
- The API returns HTTP 402. Authenticated responses carry a
_creditsobject with the cost of the call and the balance left, so your script can warn you before it hits zero. Top up with USDT (TRC-20) from the account page.
